Lime mortars

The use of lime mortars and lime shelter coat paints is a cornerstone of building conservation practice.

From the repointing of masonry construction joints on traditional buildings to the application of lime shelter coats on medieval statuary we provide an expert level of understanding and skill in regards to the ‘lime method’.

We offer expertise in the mixing of hot lime, natural hydraulic lime and lime putty,  and subsequent application in a wide variety of differing climates and contexts.

We’ve been involved in lime long enough to see the rise of lime putty and watched as NHL limes have become commonplace. We are pleased to see the renewed use of hot lime mortars in historic building conservation.
